About NHI®

Who is NHI®?

The National Hospitality Institute (NHI)® is a non-profit educational foundation focused on safe, responsible, efficient and effective management in the hospitality industry. Created by sellers and servers of beverage alcohol, NHI® offers programs developed from the unique perspective of industry veterans and insiders. NHI programs include:

  • Techniques of Alcohol Management (TAM)® -- seller/server training.
  • Liquor Licensee Training SeminarTM –- An in-depth review of the hospitality industry aimed at new owners and managers featuring liquor laws, employment issues, music licensing, best practices and more.
  • Successful Bar Management SeminarSM -- A crash course in how to effectively and efficiently run a bar in today’s hospitality industry.
  • Safety & Security Procedures Training SeminarTM -– An analysis of security issues aimed at helping you protect yourself, your staff and your customers.

About TAM®

Nationally recognized as the leading program for responsible server training, TAM® training provides risk management tools that should be used by all licensees to control the day-to-day operations of their businesses. TAM® training covers a wide variety of information including:

  • False Identification
  • Laws, Rules, and Regulations
  • Clinical Effects of Alcohol
  • Customer Disturbances
  • Alcohol Management

TAM® is a recognized program in many states that require server training and certification. Our instructors undergo extensive certification and evaluation process before conducting seminars. This makes TAM® the most comprehensive, objective and complete server training available.

Though not required in all states, server training is a valuable tool for businesses that can help save money, promote safety, build staff awareness, and even lower insurance premiums.
